About the Saint Andrews Civic Trust
The Saint Andrews Civic Trust (SACT) is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, stewardship, and interpretation of the historic built environment and cultural landscape of Saint Andrews. Through advocacy, education, restoration projects, and community partnerships, SACT works to ensure that the town’s architectural heritage is protected and meaningfully sustained for future generations. As SACT enters a new phase of growth marked by major preservation initiatives, capital projects, and expanded fundraising efforts - we are seeking to strengthen our Board of Directors with skilled, committed volunteers who can provide practical expertise and strategic leadership. Opportunity SACT is currently recruiting Volunteer Board Members to join a working board that plays an active role in governance, oversight, and strategic support of the organization’s mission. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring professional experience and functional expertise. Our goal is to build a balanced, skills-based board capable of supporting complex projects, funding initiatives, and long-term organizational sustainability. Time Commitment Board members typically serve a term of up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. Participation includes regular board meetings, committee involvement, and engagement on specific initiatives aligned with individual expertise. This is a volunteer position; however, board members play a meaningful and impactful role in shaping the future of one of New Brunswick’s most significant heritage communities. Selection Process SACT is committed to a transparent and skills-based recruitment process. Applications will be evaluated using a competency matrix aligned to the priority skills outlined above. Short-listed candidates will be invited to in-person interviews with members of the Board. The Saint Andrews Civic Trust is getting its chance to revitalize the Charlotte County Courthouse and surrounding properties. The town and the civic trust have entered negotiations to transfer the land hosting the courthouse and Old Gaol properties following a council vote July 21.

For nearly a decade the fate of the historic Charlotte County Court House has been up in the air. James Geneau spoke on a new proposal that could breathe new life into the national historic site as part of the Courthouse Commons project we undertook in 2024.

The Saint Andrews Civic Trust is excited to reveal its new brand and website designed to build awareness of the trust and its role as well as to educate and inform locals and visitors of the many stories and heritage places within Saint Andrews. The new site was officially launched on Friday the 26th of May.
